Daniel Bacon's Debut of Historical Novel, Frisco

SUNDAY- APRIL 3rd: The San Francisco Maritime Park Association is proud to present Daniel Bacon’s historical novel “Frisco” – a critically acclaimed production chronicling the San Francisco waterfront during the 1930’s. A portrait of San Francisco during the Great Depression, Frisco tells the story of Nick Benson and Clarisa McMahon, whose relationship is torn apart when financial hardships force them to take separate paths. During a longshoremen strike, they find themselves on opposite sides of a bloody battle, separated by conflicting loyalties. In tracing their lives, Bacon takes us from the jazz clubs of the Barbary Coast to the streets of old Shanghai to the turbulent Frisco waterfront. In telling this gripping tale, Bacon introduces us to historical characters such as Harry Bridges and delivers a passionate story of betrayal and redemption, amid a tumultuous period when the City by the Bay was affectionately known as Frisco.

Daniel Bacon is a well known San Francisco historian and the author of Walking San Francisco on the Barbary Coast Trail, a popular guidebook of the City's storied past. His debut novel is a gripping tale about the life of a young sailor in the 1930s and the rise of the labor movement along San Francisco's turbulent waterfront.
