In cooperation with the Attorney General?s Office and the FBI, Oak View Law Group strikes back against scammers by shutting down

After intense litigation and with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office and the FBI, Oak View Law Group (OVLG) marks its first success in bringing justice for thousands of victims in the fraudulent scams operating through websites “oak-view-law-groups.com” and “manager-collections.com”

Senior Attorney and President, Mr. Virendra Kalani, Esq., was quoted stating, “This is just the first step for Oak View Law Group. After months of being on the defensive, collecting evidence, and collaborating between law enforcement agencies, we are now in a position to strike back. With the granting of the order to effectively shut down these sites and force the domain registrar to reveal the identities of the owners, Oak View Law Group will be proceeding to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit by the end of March 2016 and is looking forward to bringing the scammers for their day in court.”

Since November 15, OVLG witnessed a rise in complaints about fraudulent activities arising out of the infringement of copyrights and trademarks exclusive to Oak View Law Group. Hundreds of consumers have stepped forward to report the scam to OVLG’s attorneys, and have provided the evidence needed for a formal investigation. With evidence on hand, Oak View Law Group has filed a legal complaint with the Attorney General’s office and the FBI to clear its good name and persuade them to bring justice on behalf of the victims. The Attorney General’s office wrote a letter to Mr. Kalani that while it can’t personally represent OVLG, they will use the evidence provided to take proper legal action against scammers.

For months, OVLG has suffered irreparable harm due to the scammers’ activities. The perpetrators attempted to malign OVLG’s reputation by cheating and threatening consumers using fake domain names, assuming identities of OVLG employees, and falsifying credentials to boast their legitimacy.

A victim who agreed to be interviewed on condition of anonymity stated, “ The scammers would call my home and work several times a day pretending to be lawyers from OVLG. When I told them I had no outstanding debts, they became aggressive and threatened to have me put in jail. I was so scared that I was being sued, that I almost fell victim to the scam. Fortunately, I searched on OVLG’s site and read the “report a scam” section. Only after being assured by Mr. Kalani that it was a scam, I felt relieved. I am happy to hear that progress is being made.”

Senior Manager, Robert Lopez, was quoted as stating, “Oak View Law Group is a leading law firm in the US specializing in consumer law. It is not a debt collection agency and has never been involved in collection activities. It is time we aggressively punish these scammers and bring restitution and penalties for their blatant disregard of the laws. I fully support the criminal case and civil case against these scammers for indulging in the reckless acts of the FDCPA violations, identity theft, illegal practice of law, and violation of trademarks and copyrights.”

OVLG is not involved in debt collection activities or scams. It has been closely working with the police departments, FBI, and AG in California to identify and bring justice to perpetrators of collection scams.

Anyone who gets a collection call from someone claiming to be associated with OVLG can send an email to kalani(at)ovlg(dot)com. For more information about OVLG’s actions against scammers, and to learn about the latest scam activities, please visit OVLG’s ‘Report a Collection Scam’ page.
