Adventist-owned Sanitarium Health Food Company Sponsors Youth

"What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it." Deuteronomy 12:32.

In an effort to be inclusive, Seventh-day Adventists are becoming ever more reliant on the worldly standard for gender identity. We are fast becoming a religious community that actively recognizes all gender expressions, particularly those who identify as transgender, non-binary, and non-conforming. One by one, institutions, churches, and church leaders are rejecting biblical truth and embracing dangerous heresies and worldly propaganda. The notion that we can somehow embrace the Bible and at the same time affirm the ever-growing list of gender identities is a fatal delusion that is dragging many down.

Sanitarium is a health food company owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has operations in Australia and New Zealand. Part of its mission is to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Sanitarium has been hosting sporting events for children in both nations. The events are advertised on Race Roster, a company that provides event management services and online registration. For parents wishing to sign up their children for the various sporting venues, Race Roster claims that all their events come with a standard registration form that only offers two sex options, male and female. However, the event's organizers, who are also its sponsors, are free to include more gender options. Race Roster explains their gender designation policy as follows:

"The Race Roster platform offers the ability for event organizers to ask their participants to provide their personal information regarding sex and gender in a variety of ways. By default, Race Roster will display the options for sex (male, female), but can also be toggled to display alternative options for gender identity as well (man, woman; non-binary, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, or 'prefer not to disclose').

So when you look at the registration interface options for the Adventist-sponsored athletic competition event for kids, ages 6-15, our church institutions are giving people the option to register their children with alternative gender identities as parents click on the "Enter Now/Create a School Group" button. Our Adventist people are choosing to do this. They are not being forced to provide alternative gender options by Race Roster. In fact, Race Roster's default setting only gives male and female choices. In other words, Seventh-day Adventists are the ones who are promoting the false gender ideology agenda among children.

It is God's worldview of truth upon which His church is established. It is God who defines what sin and disobedience are. What good is having an Adventist institution if it cannot express the biblical position on sex? We become just like any other secular institution, pushing the same godless agenda. Once we take this path, our adherence to Christian morality and the biblical witness become meaningless.

Seventh-day Adventists are welcoming, and we want to welcome all people. We want to welcome them into heaven. We want to welcome them to become part of the body of Christ and part of the "commandment-keeping" church. (Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14.) But we will never welcome people into hell with a false, inclusive gospel that is so fixated on ignoring the moral teachings found in God's word.

As a church, we cannot affirm or endorse sin. That is not love. True love will call others away from the path of sin. The early church spoke "truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15). Tragically, this is not happening. Worse yet, we justify, affirm, and encourage the LGBT+ lifestyle. Sexual immorality, in any of its manifestations-premarital, extramarital sex, same-sex relationships, or even self-abuse-is not to be tolerated in the churches. Like Jesus, we are to work to restore and redeem broken lives (John 4:15-23; John 8:10, 11). Sexual immorality is not to be promoted, endorsed, excused, celebrated, or affirmed.

We believe in the value and human dignity of all people, but we also believe in the equally important biblical truth of the redemption of the soul for all people. Yes, God loves all people. God also loves thieves, murderers, hypocrites, backstabbers, cheaters, fornicators, adulterers, drunkards, and liars because they are all humans too. But the scriptures also teach us that if we continue living in any kind of sinful lifestyle, we will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). At what point do we actually begin to teach people what God says about all these things?
