The freshly launched digital MSME Udyam Registration system has

The new online method of MSME Udyam Registration introduced by the Union MSME Ministry on July 1st, 2020, has withstood the test of time and technology, with over 11 lakh MSMEs successfully registered by now.

The system is completely seamless and fluid, as well as stable and resilient.

Since its inception on July 1st, 2020, more than 11 lakh MSMEs have been registered.

More than 9.26 lakh registrations with PAN numbers occurred as a result of this.

This includes almost 1.80 lakh elderly UAM holders and 1.73 lakh female-owned businesses.

As a transitional arrangement, the Ministry of MSME organises special campaigns to increase Udyam Registration without PAN and GST till 31 march 2021.

It should be noted that the Ministry of MSME updated the definition of MSMEs and the registration process on July 1, 2020. It also created a new platform for registering MSME/Udyams. The portal has been operational since then. This portal is the first of its kind to be completely connected with the GST networks, as well as the GeM. It should be emphasised that, as a result of this integration, MSME registration is now completely paperless.

The Ministry has directed all of its Field Establishments, including MSME-Development Institutes, MSME Technology Centres, NSIC, KVIC, and the Coir Board, to provide full support to enterprises seeking to register for Udyam. Similarly, all District Magistrates and District Industries Centres have been asked to accelerate MSMEs' registration. CHAMPIONS platform handles MSMEs' registration grievances through its network of 68 State Control Rooms and a Central Control Room across the nation.

According to a review of registrations till October 31, 2020 (more than 10 lakh), the trend and overall image are as follows:

• 3.72 lakh businesses have registered in the Manufacturing category, while 6.31 lakh businesses have registered in the Service sector.

• Micro Enterprises account for 93.17% of all businesses, while Small and Medium Enterprises account for 5.62% and 1.21%, respectively.

• Male entrepreneurs own 7.98 lakh businesses, whereas female entrepreneurs own 1.73 lakh businesses.

• Divyangjan entrepreneurs own 11,188 businesses.

• The top five industrial sectors in terms of registrations are food goods, textiles and apparel, fabricated metal products, and machinery and equipment.

• 1,01,03,512 people have been hired by these registered units.

• Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat are the top five states for Udyam registrations.

• As a transitory measure, registration without a PAN is authorised until March 31, 2021.

• As a transitional measure, registration without a GST number is also authorised until 31.03.2021.

Enterprises that have not yet registered should do so in order to benefit from the Ministry of MSME and other government authorities. Registration is free and should only be done on the Government portal that ends in.gov.in.
