LOS ANGELES, CA – September 20, 2007 The 2nd annual Asia Pacific Entertainment & Media (APEM) Summit 2007 announced the addition of business matchmaking sessions that will bring together key industry figures from the U.S. and Asia for face-to-face meeting opportunities for investment or partnership purposes. These sessions will be offered at no additional cost to APEM participants alongside the event's informative panel discussions about the business of Asian entertainment.
Organized by Entertainment Asia Network (EAN), the APEM Summit 2007 will be held at Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles on October 17-18, 2007. The two day executive-level conference is the most Asia-focused entertainment industry event for companies who look to do business and learn more about the film, TV, video game, mobile and Internet content industries in Asia, the fastest growing market in the world today. Industry veterans will discuss and analyze key issues from Asia's entertainment industry that are affecting today's global market and business strategies.
The real potential of Asia's film, TV, mobile, online game and Internet content industries, particularly of China, South Korea, Japan and India, lies in the enormous consumer base and market growth sparked by unprecedented economic development. A number of factors have contributed to such rapid regional market growth such as increases in purchasing power, disposable income and consumer spending, a spike in overseas investments, rising costs for entertainment products and services, decrease in piracy rates, cultural and regulatory changes, increases in domestic productions or Asian co-productions and the emergence of home entertainment markets.
According to a report by EAN, Asia's powerhouse economies of China, India, South Korea and Japan will continue to post spectacular gains and the financial strength of these growing markets will eventually result in an Asia that is capable of sustaining itself with the regional profits alone. To achieve the sense of immense market potential that is Asia, EAN forecasts that the four nation's domestic theatrical movie market, a sector that exhibits the least amount of regional variance, will have combined total revenues of over $10.5 billion by the year 2020 with Gross Domestic Product totals that will reach over $16 billion. Furthermore, EAN suggests that the four regions will follow a steep upward trend to overtake the U.S. industry by sometime in the year 2025.
The pivotal importance in Asia's media market is now well apparent, and tangible results are currently taking shape. The APEM Summit 2007 was organized to provide the industry a forum to discuss potential business opportunities in the region as well as give members of the overall entertainment and media industry practical insight and strategies from companies who have already proved to be successful in Asia.
Executives that will be available for business matchmaking sessions include:
