DIGAME RECEIVES PAYPAL AWARD FOR REVOLUTIONARY APP-VOTING

digame mobile GmbH from Cologne receives the “Best Innovation Award” for pioneering the integration of PayPal into the official Second Screen Application of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Cologne/Berlin, June 2013: In keeping with the motto “Europe, Start Voting Now!”, this year more than 150 million viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest had the opportunity to vote for their favorites via mobile app. The processing of the votes was carried out conveniently and safely by using the PayPal account activated in the viewer’s app. This novel and innovative integration of an E-Commerce payment method in a Second Screen Application received the “PayPal Best Innovation Award 2013”.

Second Screen Applications: The New and Revolutionary Viewing Experience
The official Eurovision Song Contest App accompanied the audience fully synchronized during the live show and provided supporting information about participating artists and their countries as well as lyrics for each act. A timeline kept the user fully informed with regularly updated new. All songs could be bought directly from the app.

Performance is Key Component
High performance systems, ensuring fast processing of peak-heavy voting during a major event, are the central key performance indicator. In direct comparison with the traditional voting channels SMS and Call, the app-generated and IP-transmitted votes fully achieved this high benchmark. Moreover a certificate solution ensured the uniqueness of votes. "Our application has proved its performance capability in 188 countries worldwide with up to 250,000 requests per second. We are pleased that this achievement is honored by this award", states Alexander Moulakakis, Managing Director at digame mobile GmbH.
