Afghan girl humanitarian crisis

Afghan girl humanitarian crisis

Seven months have elapsed and poor Afghans are still starving, having little or no food to survive on including during the harsh winter months. This comes at a time when the Afghan government fell to the hands of the Taliban last year at the end of August 2021. According to Melad Ahmadzai said that Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian delay from nonprofit organizations with funding for programmes.

Ahmadzai says, "I believe nonprofit organizations who wants to help should follow in the foot steps on International aid organizations and do more as quickly as possible, not wait longer."

However, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is affecting more than half of the population including many children and women.

A few international organizations are working on the ground to provide food to needy Afghans at a time of great need.

Meanwhile, there are some nonprofit organizations which are unable to do their work in addressing the current need in Afghanistan. Canada has generously contributed $50 million additional funding to the humanitarian work in Afghanistan. Ahmadzai further adds, "Humanitarian aid falls under human rights codes and as such this important work shouldn't be jeopardized by political decisions which takes long time to solve".

Reports indicate that many children and women will face severe malnourishment and therefore die, if they continue to be left behind and face humanitarian aid shortages.
