Lighting Legends

Adam and Jonathan started their business from scratch and achieved a £1.47m turnover in the first year of trading.

Derbyshire entrepreneurs Adam Wilkins and Jonathan Saeed have taken their lockdown startup idea and turned it into a £1m business in just a year.

Lighting Legends is a garden lighting business based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire — and it’s already proving a massive hit among homeowners in the UK. With four employees working from a 3,500 sq ft commercial unit, the sky’s the limit for this exciting startup venture.

As well as commercial success, Adam and Jonathan have enjoyed a string of glowing reviews and accolades since launching their business in September 2020. Lighting Legends is currently featured on the Grand Designs Magazine website, and the company also appeared in the Sunday Mirror’s Christmas Checklist 2020.

The young entrepreneurs will also be attending the Grand Designs Live Trade Show at ExCeL London between April 30th and May 8th, 2022. Attendees can expect to see some of Lighting Legend’s most popular products on display at the event, including their best-selling LED Plug-in Waterproof Warm White Heavy Duty Outdoor String Lights.

Lighting Legends is an online outdoor lighting retailer that aims to help people transform their indoor and outdoor spaces at home. Specialising in outdoor string lighting, this fledgling company has already earned hundreds of rave reviews from happy customers.

Word of mouth has played a major part in the sensational success of Lighting Legends. In just a year, the online store has amassed more than 25,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram, along with monthly Pinterest views of over 750,000.

The backstories of both Adam Wilkins and Jonathan Saeed are just as impressive as the amazing success of their startup. Adam worked for the Police force for 10 years before starting his own property investment and lettings company in 2016. Jonathan earned a degree in Business Management and ran his own successful gardening business for several years.
Jonathan is proud of the journey he and his school friend of 18 years have taken together. He said:

“We joined forces in September 2020 with minimal startup cash. We initially worked from our laptop’s in Adam’s front room after noticing a gap in the market.

“We realised that consumers were becoming frustrated with the throw-away culture that dominates the lighting market. Because there are so many poor-quality lighting products available online, people were used to throwing them away and buying the same cheap replacements.

“That’s why we decided to create something better. We wanted to focus on high-quality lighting products backed up by excellent in-house customer service.

“Our aim is to become a household name in the outdoor lighting industry. Right now, our best-selling product is our Heavy Duty LED String Lights, which have proven very popular with both residential and commercial customers.

“We’re always looking to improve and expand our product range. We recently launched our exclusive Super Festoon lights, and more great products are on the way.”

Lighting Legends focuses on high-quality indoor and outdoor lighting products that are designed to last. This company takes its customer service very seriously — offering an in-house customer service team. And this fast-growing business offers a 12-month warranty on all purchases and free UK delivery with no minimum spend.

Adam and Jonathan are firmly focused on the future of Lighting Legends and with such a stunning first year under their belt, 2022 promises to be even more exciting.
