Action Storage Launches Distribution Operations in Japan

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom (3rd January, 2013) - Action Storage, a leading supplier of shelving and storage systems, is actively seeking distributors overseas in an attempt to grow their business.

Action Storage manufactures the eXtreme Plastic Lockers® range in China, maintaining a representative office in Shanghai.

In October 2012, from their Chinese representative office, Action Storage set up a new distributor in Japan for the sale of their eXtreme Plastic Lockers® range. The distributor, Koyo, specialises in the sale and manufacture of locker systems from their base in Nagano.

The manager of the Shanghai representative office, Shi Xiao Qiang, approached the Japanese company Koyo in 2010. Subsequently, two visits were made from the UK to take samples and discuss eXtreme Plastic Lockers'® position in the market.

After repeated discussion between the Shanghai office and UK distribution Sales Manager Martin Quigley, a deal was struck and the first container load was delivered.

This is a notably unusual export for Action Storage, as the goods were made by a Chinese manufacturer with UK-owned tooling, sold to the UK company, and then resold and directly delivered to Koyo. The profit from the transaction then filters back to the UK.

A spokesperson for Action Storage commented: "This is the first encounter that Action Storage has had with a Japanese company, and it is noticeable that Koyo's attention to detail and insistence on high levels of quality for service and products mark them out as being very discerning distributors.
