SAF FreeMile link deployment in Hawaii.

The unlicensed, all-outdoor SAF FreeMile 24 GHz radio system has significantly increased the capacity of Aloha Broadband's microwave network in Hawaii.

SAF Tehnika (NASDAQ:SAF1R), a premier carrier-class manufacturer of licensed and unlicensed microwave point-to-point microwave radio systems today announced that Aloha Broadband, a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), has deployed SAF Tehnika's FreeMile 24 GHz radio system to extend its broadband network in the rural areas of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Multiple SAF FreeMile 24 GHz microwave links were deployed to provide high capacity, reliable connectivity between towers while continuing to provide carrier grade backhaul service and wireless broadband Internet access to rural communities across Hawaii.
"We are very satisfied with SAF Tehnika's SAF FreeMile 24 GHz platform radios," said Elton Wilson, Owner of Aloha Broadband. "With the rapid growth in the area and the demand for more speed, we ran out of spectrum in the 5 GHz range, which we use for our backhauls. We began to interfere with ourselves, reducing the amount of bandwidth we could offer. By replacing our main Point-to-Point links, we were able to get better speeds and lower latency than our 5GHz backhauls offered. This upgrade has significantly increased the capacity of the microwave network to accommodate the traffic growth."

Baltic Networks; SAF's long-term partner and one SAF's leading distributors, was responsible for project implementation. Brian Vargas, Managing Director of Baltic Networks stated: "Lack of spectrum availability presents serious challenges to many of our WISP customers. We are very pleased to be able to offer a reliable and cost-effective solution in this space. We are thrilled that Aloha Broadband selected Baltic Networks as its vendor of choice."

Kristaps Rikans, Vice President of Sales for North America at SAF Tehnika added: "This is our first project in Hawaii and we are thrilled that Aloha Broadband has chosen the SAF FreeMile 24 GHz radio system to meet their connectivity needs. SAF microwave systems incorporate advanced technologies and are designed to withstand the toughest outdoor conditions anywhere in the world. The 24 GHz band offers a unique upgrade path from lower capacity 5.8 GHz systems at a price point similar to many 5.8GHz radiosystems today."

SAF Tehnika is among the world's top microwave carrier-class point to point radio manufacturers, with capacities up to 720 Mbps meeting ETSI, FCC and Industry Canada standards. SAF Tehnika is committed to providing an exceptional customer adapted wireless solution that empower carriers and servicers the level of connectivity demanded in today's competitive environment. SAF Tehnika has installation in nearly 100 countries around the world in the most challenging of environments and extreme temperatures.
