BITS Pilani 74-79 Alumni Global Reunion with a Virtual Conference Mixing Musings with Music

Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani Institution of Excellence in India today 74-79 Classmates had a global reunion with a virtual conference on 28 February 2021, Sunday (9 AM to 11 Am India Time). With about hundred passion packed batchmates from New Zealand through Singapore, Mumbai, New York and California Zooming in, it goes without saying that it was indeed a grand success. BITS Pilani had been in news recently for announcing the setting up of INR 1500 Crores BITSoM B School at Mumbai and also its placements for achieving 99% of last year figures despite Covid 19 Pandemic.

The five Expert Speakers who shared their decades of experience included Dr Kanak Madrecha from UAE, Jagdish Parihar from Singapore, Joseph K Antony from Chennai, Dr Nitin Pandit from USA and Akhilesh Jain from Indore.) The six Expert Singers / Musician included Dr C M Ramesh from Goa, Mihir Barua from Guwahati, N G Karkhane from Aurangabad, Rajib Lochan Kalita from Guwahati & Sanjeev Punj from Himachal Pradesh and Hari Patel from USA who mesmerized the audience with their renderings.

Dr Kanak Madrecha who did BE (Hons) Mechanical from Pilani campus of BITS is a distinguished NITIE Alumni and has won multiple awards at UAE, Global Ambassador (STRATandGO), Global Ambassador (Health, Happiness, Peace & Prosperity) & is among who is who of Indians in UAE.

Jagdish Parihar who did MMS from BITS Pilani is Ex Managing Director and Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at Olam International. He has over 30 years’ experience in the commodities industry and has also co-authored a book on Agribusiness and Commodity Risk. Presently he serves on Advisory Boards of companies in Europe / USA.

Joseph K Antony is Founder & CEO The Exponential Foundation and The Abundance Advisory LLP. He is non conformist and a true multi disciplinarian, in which sense a true product of BITS, Pilani (Masters in Economics) , PGDFM from IFMR, now Krea University, MBA (Madras University), Financial Engineer from Indian School of Business (ISB). He is a Global X Prize Semi Finalist and Member of MIT Media Labs's Human Dynamics Group's Computational Law and Wyoming Block Chain Foundation

Nitin Pandit is the Director of the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE) in Bangalore, India. He has held leadership positions at World Resources Institute (WRI) in Washington, DC, USA, focusing on restoration and energy efficiency, after serving as the CEO of WRI India and led WRI’s work in India. Before WRI, Nitin was President of the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), with offices and programs in a dozen countries, for implementing novel sustainable energy approaches for developing countries. Nitin did his BE (Hons) Civil from BITS Pilani and MS from Lehigh University, MS from Carnegie and PhD from George Mason University.

Akhilesh Jain holds a BE (Hons) EEE from BITS Pilani and did post graduation from NITIE Mumbai .He served Genelec Ltd. an associate of GEC-UK for 10 years in the field of Sales and Marketing at Mumbai, Kolkata and Indore. Presently Akhilesh is Promoter of StocksBazaar (Experts in Multiplying your Investments) and SEBI registered Investment Adviser E H Research at Indore. Akhilesh's father now 89 is a Sarvoday Gandhiwadi social worker having worked with Vinoba ji and Jay Prakash Narayan.

Kanak Madrecha was the General Moderator and Sumit Chordia was Entertainment Moderator. Kanak Madrecha spoke on H2P2 Health Happiness Peace and Prosperity while Jagdish Parihar enlightened Strategies for Crisis Management. Joseph Antony laid bare the Block Chain Technology before all while Nitin Pandit highlighted Ecology and Environment. Akhilesh Jain captured the interest of one and all with the topic Managing investments.
