Opus Energy and Daniel Keatings visit schools

Opus Energy, the sponsor of local European Champion gymnast Daniel Keatings, visited two Northamptonshire primary schools on Wednesday with Dan to talk to over 300 primary school children about his exciting summer ahead and how he got to where he is today.

Children from Chiltern Primary School and Little Houghton Church of England Primary School were left awestruck as they got an exclusive viewing of his pommel horse routine and also an opportunity to ask him about what inspired him to become a gymnast.

The school children were enthralled when Keatings - who is regarded as one of the leading talents of British gymnastics - invited some of their classmates to take part in forward rolls, handstands and cartwheels with him.

Mrs. Penny Howell, Head Teacher at Chiltern Primary School, said, “The children were over the moon when we told them that a famous gymnast was going to visit the school. They couldn’t wait to take part in the routines with him, and it was great that all their classmates got to watch as well.”

Mrs. Carolyn Fairbrother, Head Teacher at Little Houghton Church of England Primary School, commented, “We’ve been talking about the Olympics a lot at school; the children are getting quite excited. Daniel performing a routine and answering the children’s questions was the icing on the cake for them!”

Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director, Opus Energy, said, “It’s great that Opus Energy’s sponsorship of Daniel means he’s got time to visit schools and chat with the children. His passion for gymnastics will be so motivational to lots of youngsters who are keen to try new sports.”
