(openPR) - SatPro is very pleased to announce that its systems fill the requirements of the new SOLAS regulations which is expected to enter into force on 1 January 2008 and will apply to ships constructed on or after 31 December 2008 with a phased-in implementation schedule for ships constructed before 31 December 2008. It is included in SOLAS chapter V on Safety of Navigation, through which LRIT will be introduced as a mandatory requirement for the following ships on international voyages: passenger ships, including high-speed craft; cargo ships, including high-speed craft, of 300 gross tonnage and upwards; and mobile offshore drilling units.
Extensive tests were absolved successful in cooperation with the german BSH (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie).
„We are very satisfied with the results of the tests. With our know-how by now SatPro seems to be the only company in Germany that is ready to adopt the technical requirements of the SOLAS regulations especially under cost aspects. Due to its start latest in 2009 time is getting short to implement the new systems.” says Oliver Schwab, marketing manager of SatPro. „We are astonished how companies, ship owners and especially officials are still not aware of the necessary steps to take. There are lots of logistic problems to be solved and time is running out. We see a big need of action in a very short time coming up, because the requirements are very complex.
We recognize a growing interest in our solutions. Nevertheless, if all necessary decisions are made in a timely manner way, we are confident that all involved parties will be ready to start by the deadline determined.”
As the only german Provider SatPro is offering a wide range of services through ist computing centre in additon to a cost saving solution for LRIT.
