(openPR) - On June 11th, 2007 the artists FallerMiethStüssiWeck (FMSW) are going to mark the geographical zero-point in the Gulf of Guinea with „Nothing“.

The expedition Toward Zero is going to start in Hamburg, Germany, on May 8th, 2007. To achieve slow approximation to zero FMSW will be traveling by container ship towards the zero coordinate in perceptible speed. The geographical zero-point is the starting point of our world map coordinate system. This point is in the Gulf of Guinea and is marked by the interception of the the zero-longitude line through Greenwich and the natural course of the Equator FMSW is going to circle point zero by motorboat and then, at the point closest to zero, plunge a ball of stainless steel into the ocean; this ball contains a vacuum of 0,000001 bar, the best possible approximation to nothing. With the expedition toward zero FMSW is undertaking a modern pilgrimage to the center of the GPS-orientated world.

The Ball will be on view on Saturday , May 5th, 2007 at Gallery White Trash Contemporary Hamburg, Willy-Brandt-Str. 56. 1-8pm

Lina Faller, Marcel Mieth, Thomas Stüssi and Susanne Weck, alumni at sculpturing at Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee, have been working together since 2001 as FallerMiethStüssiWeck (FMSW). The four are engaged in positioning, in experimenting with GPS and in search of position. Their graduation thesis: „ Dokument irrtümlicher Weltanschauungen; über die physikalisch bedingte Arbeitslosigkeit des Bildhauers” (“Document of Errouneos Worldviews; on the Physically Entailed Unemployment of the Sculptor“), a radio drama book, was released at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin in 2005. At the time being work by FMSW can be seen at the gallery „white trash contemporary“ in Hamburg until April 28th.
