Press release from: Air Berlin

airberlin and American Airlines have added two Canadian destinations to their cooperation agreement. As of today, the codeshare agreement will also include the American Airlines flights from New York-JFK to Montreal and Toronto. The new destinations in Canada will be frequented several times per week and can be reached by airberlin passengers flying from Berlin and Düsseldorf, via New York. Since airberlin's winter flight plan, for the first time, will also include non-stop flights from Berlin and Düsseldorf to New York, a year-round connection between the two Canadian cities and airberlin's route network is available.

During the summer of 2011, Montreal-Trudeau Airport and Toronto Pearson International can be reached from Berlin-Tegel, up to four times a week, and from Düsseldorf, on a daily basis. In the winter of 2011/12, flights to Canada will be departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from Düsseldorf, and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from Berlin, both with a stopover in New York. The summer flight schedule also includes a non-stop flight from Düsseldorf to Vancouver, which is operated by airberlin three times a week.

Tickets for the new connections to Canada can be booked over the Internet at airberlin.com, at the company's Service Center (phone: 01805 – 737 800; 0.14 €/min. from landlines or max. 0.42 €/min. from cell phones) and in travel agencies. Customers of both airline companies will be able to earn and redeem miles throughout the entire flight route network of the partner airline.

airberlin is Germany's second largest airline. The company has a workforce of 8,900 employees. In 2010 alone, airberlin received over 10 awards for service and quality. The fleet comprises 168 aircraft with an average age of five years, making it one of the most modern fleets in Europe. The airline's state-of-the-art jets are highly fuel efficient, which contributes toward a long-term reduction in pollution emissions from aircraft. As one of the major European airlines, airberlin flies to 163 destinations in 39 countries. In 2010, the airline carried 33.6 million passengers. airberlin has signed up for membership to the global airline alliance oneworld® and is expected to become a full member at the start of 2012. airberlin operates codeshare flights with the oneworld-members American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and S7.
