(openPR) - Enjoying to the full that winter is 'on its last legs' - it is the tradition of the 'firn + fun happening' in the 'Europa-Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun' to turn the last cold days into the hottest party of the season. This year's big 'welcome to spring party' on the glacier of Kitzsteinhorn starts on 28th April. For four whole days everything is about sun, fun, and the finest of glacier snow then. Whether they come on skis, on a board, or without any piece of sports equipment, all guests will get their money's worth at this event - a substantial calendar of events makes sure of that.
A feeling of Copacabana in the Alps: the group of 'Samba Brasil' is going to see to that. The 'selecao' of dancers and musicians is going to make the firn snow boil with its hot South American sounds. DJ Gary Stu and his glacier disco are also out to create a club atmosphere at an altitude of 3,000 metres. With his sets, the entertainer and presenter intends to really light the fire in even the coolest Alpine sportsmen. At 'firn + fun', great store is set by art and music anyway - with atmospheric live bands like the 'Torpedos' and 'The Foxes' or rather more funnily with 'Fool Pool Comedy & Acts'.
At the 'RIDE'N'ROLL' at the Glacier Park, things present themselves from a racy and sporting angle. On three consecutive days, the event is causing quite a stir with hot board and freeski action. After the presentation ceremony for the winners of the slopestyle and speedcross competitions, the scene moves to Kaprun Castle to celebrate the event with live bands and DJs. Visitors who feel like getting on a board themselves after watching so much adrenalin-charged action can vent their energy on the permanent race course. A ski pass for the 'Gletscherbahnen Kaprun' cable cars even gives them a free 'hands-on' treatment - for the riders themselves at the 'drive-in massage' and for their boards at the waxing service. The absolute highlight for all Alpine sportsmen: in addition to an autograph session with giant slalom and World Cup winner Nicole Hosp and other stars of winter sports, there is one very special 'titbit'. The latest skis and snowboard for the season of 2008 are ready - for the ultimate and free test on snow.
In view of such an exclusive programme, culinary delights are an absolute must, of course. So it is Martin Sieberer - a top cook from Ischgl by trade - who provides the treats for the visitors' palates. As a winner of several great international prizes, Sieberer is among the most renowned chefs in Austria. A last-minute package makes it still easier to say goodbye to winter: thanks to some hefty discounts on their over-night stays, guests can join in the celebrations of the 'firn + fun happening' until the very end.
