Press release from: White Plains Hospital

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Una Hopkins of New Rochelle was recently appointed Administrative Director of the Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center at White Plains Hospital.

Hopkins is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of experience and for the last 14 years has been a nurse practitioner. Before coming to White Plains Hospital, Hopkins worked as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner, and Clinical Trials Coordinator at Montefiore Medical Center’s Albert Einstein Cancer Center. She previously worked as a Clinical Administrator at Blick Medical Associates in Greenwich, CT and an associate professor of nursing at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY.

"We are pleased to welcome Una to White Plains Hospital," said Jon B. Schandler, President and CEO. "Her extensive experience in cancer treatment and patient management is impressive and her expertise will help guide our staff and patients through their treatment."

The Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center is the only free-standing building in Westchester County devoted solely to cancer treatment and one of the region’s only cancer facilities to provide patient-focused cancer care. The Center houses the Lowenthal Infusion Therapy Center, the latest radiation therapy linear accelerator, which optimizes radiation treatment for patients and allows many of them to take advantage of one-stop treatment. Together with the Hospital’s Breast Imaging Center and its world-class Radiology Department, the DCTC brings together the latest in screening, diagnosis and treatment, along with professionals of the highest caliber and leading-edge equipment, in a manner convenient and comfortable for all patients.

In addition to her clinical skills, Hopkins is an accomplished researcher and writer; she has published over 20 articles in various medical journals in the last 14 years. She has received numerous patient care and research awards.

Hopkins holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing Science from the College of New Rochelle where she also studied to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate in good standing at Pace University in New York City.
