Exotissimo Introduces a Shadow Puppet Themed Day Trip near Jogjakarta, Indonesia
After exploring Jogjakarta, dubbed as Indonesia’s art and cultural center, guests will head straight out to the town’s outskirts to meet a skilled wayang kulit maker. Guests will create a puppet from scratch with the maker, as well as learn the art of puppet manipulation by watching a small performance and conducting one themselves.
“This is a great opportunity for travelers to learn about Indonesia’s ancient art of shadow puppetry,” said Louise Nathan, Product and Marketing Manager at Exotissimo. “It is learning by doing and not only that, guests will preserve this wonderful art form by bringing back the knowledge they just learned with them to their daily lives back home.”
The course is just a short three hours yet gives great insight into the history, cultural significance and crafting of this Javanese tradition.
