Boys & Girls Club Seeks Memorabilia, Trivia and Alumni

All alumni of any Boys & Girls Clubs are invited to help celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Club that serves the Oxnard and Port Hueneme communities on October 3 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Harriet H. Samuelsson club facility at 126 E. Seventh St. in Oxnard.

The event, “Generations Coming Home: Celebrating 65 Years of Impact,” will feature a barbecue, music, a trivia contest and a memorabilia display. Attendees will tour through the Club’s original site and see how youth programming and the facility has changed. The event is free to attend, but registration is required at https://tinyurl.com/generationscominghome.

Former club members, their families and former board members are encouraged to reach out to Club staff to share stories, trivia and lend memorabilia for display. “This organization has touched tens of thousands of people in our community. This is our way to celebrate them and everything they have achieved, and to have a great time in the process,” said Erin Antrim, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Alumni with items and trivia to share should email mrincon@bgcop.org.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, and event chair Richard Duarte, an alumnus of the club in Boyle Heights, and his wife Dolores have stepped up as barbeque sponsors. Other sponsorships available include music, hats/t-shirts, publicity, drinks and beer and wine.
