G Data Software to Sponsor the Event and Giveaway a Top-flight Power Motor Scooter and Sun Mountain Premium Golf Bag

Durham, NC—May 20, 2011— Durham’s Mayor Bill Bell will open the 2nd Annual Durham Senior Amateur Golf Championship with a ribbon-cutting event and welcome remarks on Monday, May 23 at 8:00 a.m., at the first Tee on the Hillandale Golf Course in Durham, followed by the first group teeing-off at 8:30 a.m. With a $10,500 purse, the championship is the largest senior amateur tournament in the south, drawing support from 74 local businesses, including a marquee sponsorship from international anti-virus software manufacturer, G Data Software.

G Data Software, a global antivirus company that recently opened its U.S. headquarters in Durham, is bannering the event as the primary sponsor for the championship. The company is donating 250 copies of its award-winning InternetSecurity 2012 anti-virus solution, including 150 to be given away to the first 150 championship spectators that come by G Data’s Hospitality Tent.

Monday evening, Charlie’s Pub and Grill will host a free Pig Pickin’ for players and volunteers, which will include a chance to win prizes, including a customized motor scooter and Sun Mountain Premium golf bag donated by G Data Software. The first 100 patrons to Charlie’s will receive a copy of the top-rated InternetSecurity 2012. The championship will resume on Tuesday, May 24, at 8:30 a.m., with the division winners and the top 40% of the field receiving their prizes that afternoon.

“We are so grateful for our sponsors and for the support of Mayor Bell. We have a very strong field of senior amateur golfers from North and South Carolina and with some players coming from all parts of the country,” said Dink Andrews, the championship’s founder. “We are working towards making this event the nation’s preeminent senior golf championship. This year’s event puts us on the trajectory to accomplishing this.”

“As a longtime resident of Durham, I’m so thrilled that G Data’s U.S. operations are anchored here. Being a part of Durham Senior Amateur Golf Championship and sharing this event with Mayor Bell is one of the many reasons G Data is so excited to grow and thrive as part of the Durham community,” said Ed Johnson, senior vice president and head of North American operations for G Data Software.
