InApp CEO chosen to head IEEE Kerala Section

Trivandrum, Kerala, India – March 9, 2007 – InApp CEO, Amarnath Raja has been elected as Chairman of IEEE Kerala Section for 2007-‘08. This was announced officially by IEEE.

Other office bearers for the year 2007-’08 are Sasi P. M, Additional Director, C-DAC, Trivandrum (Vice- Chairman), Subodh P S, C-DAC, Trivandrum (Secretary) and Shahid Iqbal, VSSC, Trivandrum (Treasurer).

The IEEE is the largest technical professional body in the world. It sponsors scholarships, awards, fellowships and student paper contests for all levels of study. IEEE activities in Kerala have entered the 30th year, with more than 1,500 members spread across the State. Since its inception, the section has been active in organizing national and international seminars on various engineering topics. The section has a Computer Society Chapter, a Power engineering Society Chapter, a joint Chapter on Industry Applications & Industrial Electronics Societies and a Communication Society Chapter. Two affinity groups, IEEE Gold and IEEE Women in Engineering also function under the Kerala branch. Student branches have been established in 20 Engineering Colleges.

Amarnath Raja is an active member of IEEE and has received special mention in the IEEE 2005 Annual report for his technological and humanitarian efforts in the Asian Tsunami Relief. He helped in creating the NGO Co-ordination & Resource Centre (NCRC). He continues to be a steering committee member of NCRC. He is also a Managing Committee Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI), Trivandrum Chapter and an active promoter of Open Source Technology.
