Unique storage containers help food allergy sufferers segregate their food to minimize flare ups and cross-contamination

BROOKLINE, Mass., March 1, 2011 — Coming on the heals of recent food allergy legislation, a new line of food storage products exclusively developed for food allergy sufferers has hit the marketplace. SafeKeepers™ are unique plastic storage containers that help individuals with food allergies safely organize their food. The containers highlight the universally recognized “Stop” and “Go” signs printed in red and green on each container and matching cover, reducing the risk of accidental flare ups or cross-contamination.

According to FAAN, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, food allergy is a growing public health concern in the United States with over 12 million Americans suffering from food allergies, the majority of whom are children. In January of this year, the The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act (FAAMA), legislation that will result in the creation of national food allergy management guidelines for schools, was signed into law. As a result of FAAMA, the federal government will create voluntary, national guidance materials for managing food allergies in our nation’s schools. This will have a tremendous impact across the country as schools face the challenges presented by the increasing prevalence of children with food allergies.
