Vulnerability Management Made Easy!

Luxembourg’s Centre des technologies de l'information de l'Etat Chooses HIAB for Vulnerability Assessment and Management

Outpost24 has successfully helped the Centre des technologies de l’information de l’Etat (CTIE) control and assure a defined security level for internal and external systems. CTIE was established by the Government of Luxembourg to better meet the challenges of the information society and support the spread of electronic exchanges within government.

Part of CTIE's responsibilities is to act as a service provider to the whole state which includes the preparation and updating of a standard framework for IT projects and modernization of the state. CTIE had looked into some of the free solutions available for vulnerability scanning but quickly saw that these did not contain all the features required to support a complete process for managing vulnerabilities in a cost-efficient way. Outpost24 introduced HIAB, a plug-and-play internal vulnerability assessment and management appliance placed inside the network which can successfully identify and manage vulnerabilities on all servers, workstations, and other devices available from within the network.

CTIE felt impressed with the HIAB’s rapid setup, ease-of-use and automatic updates. After being configured, every server at CTIE is scanned by HIAB before going live. The scan reports are given to the Systems Administrator for remediation and a verification scan is run before the server is put into production. Also, CTIE conducts a monthly scan of all servers connected to the Internet.

The Security Officer of CTIE stated, "It is important that we ensure the security level internally and externally by scanning all new machines accessible by the Internet before and during production. Nothing goes into production without being scanned beforehand, and there have been times when we have stopped servers from going into production because of security issues."

Adding "It's about having secure systems and guaranteeing good management of security and in this whole process, HIAB is a help.”

With HIAB, CTIE is able to control and assure a defined security level for internal and external systems.
