Mannheim-Heidelberg congratulates Shooting Star Alicia Vikander

The young actress has already received an award in Mannheim-Heidelberg, now she will be presented as European Shooting Star

Mannheim-Heidelberg, 7 February 2011---- Mannheim-Heidelberg is thrilled to see that the career of young Alicia Vikander from Sweden takes its course on a European level, too. For her lead in Lisa Langseth’s film “Pure” (original title: TILL DET SOM ÄR VACKERT) the actress won a special award at the November 2010 edition of the International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg for "the extraordinary performance of an actress in a very strong film” (statement of the International Jury).
The Swedish actress has now been elected Shooting Star 2011. The presentation of the Shooting Stars takes place during the upcoming Berlin Film Festival.
“We congratulate the actress who at her age is already able, with overwhelming intensity, to represent such a complex character and who has thus won over the audience as well as the jury of Mannheim-Heidelberg”, says festival director Dr. Michael Koetz. “We are pleased that she continues to receive recognition on a European level, too.”
In January 2011, Vikander also received the Guldbagge-Prize, the “Swedish Oscar”, for her performance as an actress.

The 60th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg takes place from 10 to 20 November 2011.
