Facebook and IMDA kick off Startup Station Singapore

20 February 2019, Singapore – Peoplewave, Asia’s leading data-driven HR technology company, has been selected to participate in Startup Station Singapore 2019.

Startup Station Singapore is a partnership between Facebook and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) Singapore. Kicking off in February 2019, this programme will empower data-driven startups to accelerate their businesses in new and cutting-edge ways, while continuing to keep peoples’ trust, transparency and control over their data at the core. Peoplewave will be part of the first Asia Pacific cohort, together with 10 other startups from around the region.

“We’re really proud to be one of the chosen few for the pioneer cohort of this programme. This reaffims our goals of changing the way we currently look at employee data and it’s in line with the programme’s aim of establishing a model of data innovation first in Asia and then the rest of the world,” said Damien Cummings, CEO of Peoplewave. “I believe that this six-month programme will help support Peoplewave as an innovative data-driven startup where we’re developing the next generation of HR business solutions today.”

“We are honored to support the next generation of startups in Asia through the Facebook Startup Station in Singapore. These 11 startups represent a diverse cross-section of industry, from tourism and hospitality to health and education. What sets them apart is the way they are helping people through the innovative use of data and technology. In collaboration with IMDA, we are proud to provide these startups with the infrastructure, mentorship and support they need to grow and scale their operations ethically and sustainably,” said Stephen Deadman, Global Deputy Chief Privacy Officer, Facebook.

“IMDA is committed to creating a trusted data ecosystem, in support of Singapore's journey to become a leading Digital Economy. Through our collaboration with Facebook, we will be able to support innovative startups, build data-driven businesses, adopt sound data practices and springboard into new markets,” said Yeong Zee Kin, Assistant Chief Executive (Data Innovation and Protection) of IMDA.
