01-29-2007 02:02 PM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: Analytiqa

This week's Logistics Bulletin reports on joint ventures and M&A activity from across the globe. Kerry Logistics and TALKE Logistic Services have signed a joint venture agreement to provide a full range of specialist chemical logistics services throughout mainland China. In the US, Swift Transportation is to be acquired in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately US$2.74 billion. Swift operates the largest truckload fleet in the US with over 17,900 trucks and nearly US$3.2 billion in revenues. In Europe, Vos Logistics and Bertschi have signed a collaboration agreement for the European distribution of dry bulk goods.

In the Automotive sector, Cat Logistics has announced a five-year agreement to provide Ssangyong Motor with warehousing, inventory management, transportation management, customer services, and financial management, whilst Höegh Autoliners and Maersk have announced that they will cooperate on car carrier fleets, combining to manage a fleet of about 67 vessels globally.

Elsewhere, ASEAN leaders have signed a trade agreement with China, bringing them a step closer to establishing the world's biggest free trade area. The agreement, which covers telecommunications, transport, tourism and other services, will take effect from July.

Urban Transport Policy in Europe: Meeting City Demands for Green Logistics

New Research from Analytiqa

Urban Transport Policy in Europe: Meeting City Demands for Green Logistics takes an in-depth look at the current initiatives and legislation currently being planned and implemented across twenty cities in twelve European countries across both West and Eastern Europe.

The issues addressed are those that will have the greatest impact on providers working within the express, logistics or supply chain arena. It is critical that hauliers, courier and express, logistics and distribution companies across all sectors understand and account for changes in their operational environment.

This report will assist decision makers within these organisations to ensure correct future investment into vehicles, resources, strategies and services that are not only compliant with future environmental legislation (Euro 4, Euro IV, Euro 5, Euro V, etc) and developments, but more importantly, are considered and hence able to take full advantage of some of the opportunities the future, 'greener', market will provide.

DHL releases first Sustainability Report for its UK operations

22 January 2007 - Provides stakeholders with detailed information about the economic, environmental and social performance of DHL in the UK

DHL has released the first Sustainability Report for its operations in the UK. Prepared in accordance with the Transport and Logistics industry guidelines set out by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), makes this Report the first of its kind for the industry.

The Sustainability Report covers both the Express and Aviation divisions of DHL UK. It provides stakeholders with detailed information about the economic, environmental and social performance of DHL in the UK and the Company's aspirations for the future. The report includes information that is of particular relevance to the Transportation and Logistics industry and its customers, such as managing Health and Safety, managing the impacts of climate change from air and road transport, the handling of hazardous goods, road safety and managing noise in local communities.

The UK-specific Sustainability Report compliments the Global Sustainability Report produced by DHL's parent company, Deutsche Post World Net.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a globally recognised standard for sustainability reporting. The Logistics and Transportation Sector Supplement (based on the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines) released earlier this year was developed in consultation with companies in the industry and stakeholders groups and contains performance indicators of particular relevance to the industry.
