Press release from: Managing Editor Inc.

Jenkintown, PA (September 30, 2010) — Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, today announced it is offering specialized training, consulting and design services for publishers working to move their products to tablet editions.

The new MEI program provides a full range of assistance, from strategic planning to hands-on technical work at all stages of digital production, including workflow development, issue design and app deployment. Services include training staff on the latest digital publishing innovations, creating templates and other layout elements, and walking customers through every step of the process to get content to the iPad and other tablets.

“We’re making it possible for any organization, no matter its size or specific needs, to implement the emerging standards for tablet publishing today,” said Dennis McGuire, CEO and president of MEI.

MEI offers a flexible, affordable approach for producing tablet-friendly issues from start to finish. The company’s experienced integration team will analyze a site’s existing production workflow, evaluate its needs to get content to tablet formats and take the necessary steps to optimize that process. Additionally, MEI can provide design services ranging from consulting to complete issue layout. The result is a professional, high-quality electronic edition that can reach a wide audience on a range of digital devices.

“Many publishers and creative shops don’t even know where to start when it comes to expanding to tablets,” said Brett Kizner, product marketing manager at MEI. “Whether you’re jumping in with both feet or easing your way into this medium, we’ll help you evolve as your content becomes more and more sophisticated and compelling. Above all, you can do it cost effectively and with existing staff.”

Depending on a publisher’s specific tablet needs, MEI also offers its expertise as the exclusive distributor of the vjoon K4 Cross-Media Publishing Platform in the Americas. K4 allows publishers to integrate Adobe InDesign® and Adobe InCopy® to create and manage content for print, online, mobile and, now, iPad and other emerging media.

Core K4 features such as versioning, variants, explicit multi-channel workflows and multiple placement of objects ensure that content can be easily authored and reused for any channel, designed especially for the output device and enhanced with powerful interactive features. K4 customer Condé Nast has already released several successful iPad magazine editions, including Wired and, most recently, The New Yorker.
