Wind River, the global leader in Device Software Optimization (DSO), provides a Development Kit for the award winning Siemens Enhanced Real Time Ethernet Controller (ERTEC). The Siemens ERTEC is a network controller ASIC with included switching capabilities for industrial communication based on real time Ethernet. For programming this ASIC Wind River provides an all-inclusive ERTEC Developer Kit. It contains the market leading Real Time Operating System, VxWorks, as well as a lot of integrated middleware/stacks like OPC/DCOM or a Web Server, which are needed in most industrial applications. The also included integrated development environment Tornado fully supports the whole development cycle from editing, compiling, debugging down to productizing and deployment. With Tornado the developer can easily create an application using the Siemens PROFInet IRT stack or configure the board support package to his own needs. By licensing the Wind River ERTEC Development Kit the customer receives an unlimited production right for minimized bill of material (BOM).
