(openPR) - Hamburg/Yatsushiro, October 25, 2006 – Nippon Paper, Yatsushiro, one of Japan’s leading paper mills, extends its cut-size production by an eight-pocket cut-size sheeting and packaging line. The new line consists of a SLK 490 cut-size sheeter from E.C.H. Will, equipped with five zero-speed dual unwind stands and a Pemco packaging line. Both companies belong to the Körber PaperLink Group.
The complete line was successfully accepted by the customer in mid-September 2006. The SLK 490 for Nippon Paper provides production speeds of up to 420 meters per minute and is the first installation of this new high performance machine worldwide. For the first time, Nippon Paper has decided on an E.C.H. Will unwind stand, having used own solutions until now. The E.C.H. Will unwind stand reduces reel changeover times significantly to one minute. Hence a remarkable increase of productivity and efficiency was realized. The sustained output increase results in lower unit costs.
Beyond the optimized unwind solution, the SLK 490 fulfils the high demands for product quality, e.g. paper stacks, mark-free sheeting, sheet squareness and format precision. For this, the paper transport and collecting unit has been redesigned, and the line now guarantees these high standards even with high-speed production.
The installation of the new production line at Nippon Paper was completed in a very short time frame. It was enabled by the modular machine concept and the new electric design with integrated electrical cabinets.
