Andrea Edith Moore Solo a Highlight of the March Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle Program

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (March 9, 2010)—The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (thecot.org) will host its Ballet Meets Orchestra concert on Sunday, March 14. The 3 p.m. concert will be held at the Carolina Theatre in Durham and feature award-winning soprano Andrea Edith Moore.

“Andrea’s delicate tone accentuates her warmth and grace as an artist,” says Lorenzo Muti, artistic director and conductor of The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. “We are thrilled to have her join us for our Ballet Meets Orchestra concert.”

Moore is the distinguished recipient of the Yale School of Music alumni award and was named Emerging-Artist of the Year in 2005 by the Opera Company of North Carolina. A high school graduate from the North Carolina School of Arts, Moore holds a Bachelor of Music from Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory of Music, as well as an Artist Diploma and Master of Music from Yale University School of Music. In 2009, she received the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Career Grant after spending a year performing the roles of Eurydike, Venus and Juno in Offenbach’s Orpheus in der Unterwelt in Hamburg, Germany. Subsequently, Moore returned to the Triangle to accept a position as a member of the voice faculty at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and operates a private voice studio in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Moore will be performing Samuel Barber’s “Knoxville Summer of 1915” with the orchestra. The March concert will also include orchestra renditions of Hunter Johnson’s “Letter to the World” and Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.” To conclude the 2009-2010 season, on May 16 the COT will present an All-European Program, featuring works by composers Rossini, Schubert and Mozart.
To emphasize its commitment to engaging young people with great classical music, the orchestra provides free seating at every concert to students of all ages. Tickets are available at the Carolina Theatre box office or by calling 919.560.3030. For more information on The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, visit www.thecot.org or call 919.360.3382.
