Impressionist landscape artist - Mark Briscoe

I am Mark Briscoe, Bristish artist well established in the field of Chinoiserie furniture decoration and restoration of antique lacquer. But the techniques for fine art easel painting in the wonderful manner of the old masters is something which I have been exploring in great earnest over the last two years as a long cherished desire. And while I cannot claim to have come anywhere near their heights, I have discovered some techniques along the way that work well and have a dynamic visual effect.

I use a combination of oil paint and tempera on tough panels of wood fiberboard. The color pigments which I buy from L. Cornelissen in London are of the finest grade and completely light-fast/ permanent: They will not fade. My works are mostly landscapes or botanical studies, some traditional while others are more surreal or abstract in their execution. In many of my works I use a fairly bold quivering line that reminds us of the works of Van Gogh although my technique is fundamentally different to his.

For any art buyers from the USA who are concerned about the long distance shipping from Spain, for the record, over 90% of my works have so far been bought by US art collectors (my thanks to the people of the USA for that) and I have not yet had any loss or damages from any shipment. Also the fact that I work on panels means that damage is less likely to occur than shipments of more fragile structures such as stretched canvas.
