(openPR) - UNESCO chair officially opened at Westminster International University in Tashkent on Friday. UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura participated in the opening ceremony of the Economic Knowledge chair.
Creation of the UNESCO chair at this university is a proof of the efficient cooperation between Uzbekistan and the organization, Koïchiro Matsuura said at the ceremony.
The chair, which is the 10th UNESCO chair at Uzbek universities, will teach innovation programs.
Westminster International University in Tashkent was opened on 16 January 2002.
Earlier on Friday, Koïchiro Matsuura and head of UNESCO National Commission Rustam Qosimov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the organization and the government of Uzbekistan.
