VAILLANT® SOLAR SYSTEMS LAUNCHES auroTHERM VTK 1140

10-28-2009 11:05 AM CET | Energy & Environment

Press release from: Vaillant Solar Systems Inc.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oct 27, 2009 – Vaillant® Solar Systems Inc, a leading solar thermal manufacturer, has strengthened its solar thermal portfolio with the introduction of the auroTHERM exclusive VTK 1140 evacuated tube collector. Premiering today at the Solar Power International Expo in Anaheim, the collector offers high efficiency performance and can generate the highest annual solar gains per square foot of any of Vaillant’s solar collectors.

Dr. Burkhard von Spreckelsen, CEO at Vaillant Solar Systems, states: “The auroTHERM exclusive VTK 1140 is a strong addition to Vaillant’s solar thermal portfolio, to accompany our solar flat plate collectors, storage tanks, and solar controls. We are proud to offer both flat plate and evacuated tube collectors to our certified installers.”

The auroTHERM exclusive VTK 1140 has twelve absorber tubes with a highly selective aluminum nitrate absorber coating which enhances the collector’s performance. This coating conducts heat via a spacer support for the copper collector pipes, enabling maximum heat to be transferred into the circulating solar fluid.

These collector pipes are brazed at the manifold to ensure maximum integrity of the solar system, and are situated inside of the durable sealed borosilicate glass vacuum tube. Each individual tube has the latest generation Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) external reflector, as well as a ceramic coating for long life durability.

The new vacuum tubes provide the collectors with the levels of insulation required for high-energy gain, even in low, ambient temperatures which are common in the northern states and Canada.

“It is important to have an evacuated tube collector in our product mix,” says Aaron Hanson, electrical engineer at Axmen Alternative Energy, a Vaillant-certified installer in Montana. “Evacuated tubes are a requirement for many applications and this enables Axmen to provide our customers with more options between performance, aesthetics and value. We are very pleased with the quality of this product and are confident that it can stand up to a Montana winter because it is from Vaillant.”

Vaillant’s auroTHERM VTK 1140 collectors are delivered pre-assembled with fitted handling straps for safe and easy installation. In addition, a plastic film covers the collectors, which protects them from the sun’s radiant heat and allows for safe and easy installation during sunny periods. The collectors can be installed on both pitched and flat roofs, in addition to ground mounting.

Availability
The list price for the vacuum tube collectors is $1960 and the auroTHERM VTK 1140 collectors will be available for Vaillant-certified installers to purchase in Q1 2010, directly from Vaillant Solar Systems.
