Press release from: CCIFF International Festival of Intercultural Film

International Festival of Intercultural Film
September 5 to 19

Only eight days to go! The countdown has begun!

We knew we were taking risks in embarking on this adventure without funding or sponsorship. With only the moral support of a handful of believers, this in itself is huge. But whoever speaks of adventure, speaks of adventurers. That we are, and it was obvious to us that without even a small seed, nothing grows. This small seed – let’s say : this slightly crazy idea - we have sown; and harvested a crop of dramas and documentaries that went far beyond our expectations. Apparently, our festival fills a need. A platform resolutely open to independent filmmakers, totally dedicated to interculture, to dialogue, to questions of identity ... A place where the film inspires thought - without losing sight of the cinema aspect. For it is also a celebration of the 7th art.

Choices had to be made. We have done so in the spirit of the festival, quality being equal, preference is given to young filmmakers. Of the 32 films competing in the "tomorrow" section, 23 are first films.

We have also paid tribute to the pioneers of intercultural film; to those American filmmakers who, in the ‘50’s & ‘60’s, addressed the racial issue for the first time. Six classics are in the program, signed Stanley Kramer, Arnold Laven, Martin Ritt, Anthony Harvey, Clarence Brown and Hubert Cornfield from amongst whom Pressure Point (1962) will be screened as a curtain raiser on Saturday, September 5.

That same Saturday 5th before its general release, we shall be pleased to screen (not in competition) About Elly by Asghar Farhadi (Iran) – awarded a Bear for best director at the last International Film Festival in Berlin.

Only eight days to got...

The projections are spread over three sites a few kilometers apart:
The Cine Get in Revel (Haute-Garonne), the Auditorium of the Abbey-School Sozèze (Tarn) and the projection room of the Chateau de Padiès, Lempaut (Tarn).
