This camcorder’s esteemed reputation has led it to be used in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino. It will also be used for the 2008 Games in Beijing.
What makes the AVS-P2-23 so revolutionary is that the video is stored on a semiconductor memory device. As opposed to video tape or hard disk, the memory card means that there isn’t any moving parts used for video storage. Resulting in maintenance costs far lower than drive mechanism cameras. Leaving the camera more resistant to impact, vibration, temperature change, dust and other environmental conditions. Lastly, files can be transferred as is, without any digitizing, to non-linear editors and other equipment on the network at higher data transfer speeds.
For serious videographers, the AVS-P2-23 has everything to create high quality video content. It accepts interchangeable lenses on its 2/3-inch lens mount. It offers HD/SD multi-format compatibility with 50/60-Hz selectability and a variable frame rate function. For extending storage capabilities, the AVS-P2-23 has four P2 card slots with quick recording starts.
