Sharing the joy of Ramadan with Hong Kong youth: the UAE Consulate General's Ramadan programme at local school

As Muslim communities around the world observes Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and practicing self-restraint, sacrifice and compassion, the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shared the spirit of Ramadan with local youth at the Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College, a Hong Kong government-aided secondary school, by hosting a quiz competition and distributing iftar packages for the students.
Students participated in the quiz competition via smart tablets, and answered a series of questions about Ramadan and Islamic values in general. After the competition, UAE Consul General in Hong Kong H.E. Sheikh Saoud Almualla presented certificates and prizes to the top 10 winners. He encouraged the students to uphold values of tolerance, inclusion, and peace, as they are fortunate to study at a multicultural school where students come from diverse backgrounds, much like the 200 nationalities that live side by side in peace and harmony in the UAE.
Given that sharing food is one of the sacred traditions of Ramadan, iftar packages were also distributed to 400 students and staff at the school, for breaking the fast at sunset.
Ramadan is a time of generosity, spiritual renewal, and nurturing faith. Through this programme, the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates hopes to engage with the local youth, and spread joy in the community.
