Indie-Psych Band Sqwerv Debuts 3-Song EP Hors D'oeuvres Part 1 on April 5th

Sqwerv, known for their unique sound and captivating performances, will release their latest project, a 3-song EP titled "Hors D'oeuvres Part 1," on April 5th.

The popular Denver band's forthcoming three-track EP "Hors d'Oeuvres" offers just a taste of the best that is yet to come from the group this year. With this project, Sqwerv leans into the dark and the beautiful while thriving off of the sounds they create. "Hors d'Oeuvres" marks a departure from their previous work, as the band feels that thee three new songs - the smooth, piano-laced "Jada," the island-y "Honolulu Blue" that's intertwined with fluid guitar licks, and the catchy lead single "Miami" - truly showcase the quartet's evolution through influence in various genres. Past releases have been perfect example of their ability to present rock, jam, funk, and fusion, but Hors d'Oeuvres will deliver a true "psych" sound.

Sqwerv continues to push their goals and challenge their boundaries as artists. Fans will be pleasantly surprised by the band's new direction. The producers and friends who received a sneak peak have been noting that "Hors d'Oeuvres" sounds like an entirely different composition style while still retaining the core tones and voices of the group. Sqwerv planned this change and embraces the fan response that will succeed.

"Hors d'Oeuvres Part 1" was recorded in its entirety in the band's at-home rehearsal space. This short collection of songs represents the first release the band has produced entirely on their own. Guy Frydenlund, Caden Kramer, Jack Marty, and Zach Bulgarelli agree that studio recording live together and capturing organic moments was a key focus throughout the project. The audible result is a collection of tracks that feels intimate and authentic. The familiar space certainly supplements Sqwerv's ability to present their music genuinely. This Indie-Psych/rock band's love for classic rock, psychedelic music and improvisation creates a sound that is refreshingly original and exciting.

Sqwerv realizes the importance of good songwriting and is always pushing themselves in the improvisation. The band spends a great deal of time writing lyrics, composing, and developing song structure that has grown into a catalogue that ranges from twelve minute prog songs inspired by Homer's Odyssey to two minute psych songs about love. They are fiercely driven to get to those transcendent, improvised spaces that all jam-music lovers crave. Sqwerv continues to deliver to their audiences through groove, counterpoint, polyrhythms and risk taking. To date, the band has opened up for Spafford, Big Something, Lespecial, Eggy and many more.

In commemoration of the three-track collection, Sqwerv will be celebrating with an EP release at Globe Hall in Denver on April 5th. Support for the show will come from Tomato Soup and the Midland Band.

From there, Sqwerv will be serving up a couple more EP's (parts 2 and 3), which are set to be released in May and June. Following that, fans can expect a full-length studio album in the fall.
