"Riveting!...Incredibly unique" new release, The Dowry,

(Newburyport, MA.) The Dowry, a new novel by Michael J. Nercessian, follows Talis and Lark as their marriage comes apart at the seams and their once happy life is fractured by the one thing they both desperately want: a child of their own. The book is available in paperback and ebook worldwide on March 15.

"[Nercessian] is so skilled at creating characters vulnerable and real that we can feel their pain and deeply-set regret." (Independent Book Review)

The relationship between Talis and Lark as well as the world they inhabit is at once both recognizable and foreign. Is there a future where life's most precious decision, receiving permission to have a child, is fed through an algorithm? And for those lucky enough to receive permission is having a child worth the required dowry?

"My goal as a writer is to make you feel something; make you think, and, ideally, be entertained along the way," said Nercessian. "I believe The Dowry has all these elements."

The grandson of an itinerant circus clown and illiterate coppersmith, Nercessian's first novel, My Name Was Susan O'Malley was published in 2002 He holds a second-degree black belt and has traveled to over thirty countries - often witnessing firsthand the best and worst of humanity. His passport stamps include multiple visits to Israel, China, Bulgaria, Thailand, Colombia, Indonesia, Pakistan and India. He splits his time between Plum Island, Massachusetts and Long Island, New York.

Ask your local bookstore for The Dowry (ISBN 979-8-9854659-2-1) - also available in paperback and ebook from Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Apple, Kobo and others.
