- Painting
- Sculpture
- Installation / Construction work
- Video Installation
- Film / Animations / Digital works etc.
- Short film
- Photography

The next ARTIADE will take place during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. 2008 will mark the beginning of a new era for the ARTIADE concept.

The event is going to expand, and will choose its main location independently from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), organizing an exhibition in Olympic City as a link between the Olympic Games in Beijing (P.R. China) and the main exhibition in Los Angeles (USA).

This will guarantee that the exhibition remains a forum for world culture, reflecting the ideas of people from all over the world and promoting a strong dialog between cultures and civilizations.

To secure its independence from major sponsors, ARTIADE has created supporting organizations in Santa Cruz (USA) and Athens (Greece), the latter of which is being supported by the Greek government. This time, all applying artists must pay a registration and service fee.

Registration deadlines are:
November 1st 2007 to December 31st 2007 (early birds, US$25)
January 1st 2008 to March 31st 2008 (general registration, US$35)
April 1st 2008 to April 15th 2008 (late registration, US$70)

The organization will use these funds to provide services for the integration of artwork into the database and presentation. All registered artists will be presented to the Jury of the International ARTIADE Committee (IAAC) in May 2008.

ARTIADE - the Olympic Games of Art

The 'ARTIADE - Olympics of Visual Art' first took place in Atlanta in 1996 as an accompanying event to the Centennial Olympic Games, showcasing works by artists from nations represented in the sporting event. The idea was taken from the ancient Olympic Games, at which athletes and artists, who represented two different aspects of a common culture, were considered to be of equal merit.

This globally unique event has become a highlight of the international cultural scene and perpetuates the true Olympic Spirit by combining art and sport.

In 2004, 80 of the Olympic Nations not only sent their athletes to the Olympic Games of Sports but they also sent their artists to the Olympic Games of Art. The event offered a forum for artists to present their cultural identity and represent their Nation as “Cultural Ambassadors”.

Since 1996, the ARTIADE has taken place at the same time and location as the Games. It is the only event - in addition to the Olympic Games themselves - which, under international Olympic Protection Law, is allowed to use the term “Olympics” in its title, thus becoming “Olympics of Art” and “Olympic Games of Art”. Furthermore, the event was included in the Official Cultural Program of the Olympic Games in 2004.

The event is widely recognized, which is underlined by the sponsorship of the Hellenic Republic, represented by its President Costas Karamanlis, and was supported by the late Johannes Rau, President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Other sponsors include various foreign and cultural state departments, several National Olympic Committees, embassies and international cultural organizations.

The aim of this ‘peaceful meeting of nations’ has always been to present the various cultural backgrounds of ‘all Olympic Nations’ to visitors from all over the world. Organizers intend to give all artists an equal opportunity to be part of the world’s biggest event – the Olympic Games. The works of the artists offer visitors new and fascinating artistic insight and perspective and encourage the interest in the unfamiliar and greater understanding for the inherent variety of the international community.

During the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens, 120 artists from 80 nations exhibited their artwork at the ARTIADE, which took place in a 7,500m2 hall in ‘Gasi’, the cultural district of Athens.
