Museums

There are so many museums to explore in Denver - this is just a short list, so remember that you can always go looking for other options for yourself as well!

American Mountaineering Center

The American Mountaineering Center is the nation's premiere facility for education, research, conversation, and information about the mountain environment. This space includes an art museum, library, conference space, auditorium, climbing wall, and spectacular views of North and South Table Mountains, and even free parking!

American Museum of Western Art - The Anschutz Collection

The American Museum of Western Art in Denver, CO, has around three hundred paintings for you to enjoy, from the early 19th century to the present day. Obviously, there's the Anschutz Collection, which includes a variety of categories like expeditionary artists, narrative artists, modernism, expressionism, and even abstract expressionism. They have tickets for self-guided tours at $5 per person, and there are Docent-led tours every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10am and 1pm.

Children's Museum of Denver, at Marsico Campus

If you have little ones with you - or you want to indulge your inner child - you can visit the Children's Museum of Denver, located on Marsico Campus. Exhibits include the Investigate, which includes water, kinetics, bubbles, and energy; Imagine, which features Fire Station No. 1, Ready Vet Go, an early learner's oasis, my market, and even a book nook; Explore, which has joy park, box canyon, altitude, bloom (coming soon!) and adventure forest; and finally, Create, which features the art studio, the teaching kitchen, and assembly plant! They're open seven days a week, from 9am to 4pm. Admission for kiddos under one is free; kiddos aged one is $16; people from ages 2 to 59 are $18; ages 60+ are $16; and members are free. Memberships range in cost, but you can take a look at the cost online!

The Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL)

This is a museum dedicated to preventing terrorism through education, empowerment, and engagement. This is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution. Individual tickets for adults are $12, with seniors 65+ being $9. If you can provide proof of government or military employees with ID, you get in for $9. And students with ID are also $9.

Theaters

While in Denver, you may want to visit a theater or even two.

Denver Center for the Performing Arts

This center provides Broadway tours, Theatre Company productions, Off-Center, family-friendly, dramas, comedies, musicals, and even virtual events! They are truly a gorgeous location with a variety of restaurant partners to make your experience one-of-a-kind. You can always take a look at their Event Page to see what's coming up! Please note that, because it's a theater, prices will vary per event.

Paramount Theatre

Paramount Theatre, home to live music and shows, is another of Denver's gorgeous theaters. Once again, because these are live shows, prices will vary per show, so you'll need to check ahead of time. Luckily, they make that easy with their easily-found Event Calendar online!

You can always also take a look at Denver.org itself to find theater events you like at a variety of theaters, like Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Wolf Theatre, Miners Alley Playhouse, and even Aurora Fox Arts Center!

And more!

Museums and theaters aren't the only thing you can do in Denver, Colorado. There's so much to take in at the Mile High City!
