Join ICORE at OEB 2013 to discuss the future of open education and research!

Join ICORE at OEB 2013 to discuss the future of open education and research!

On 5th December 2013, ICORE, the international Council for Open Research and Education, will lead the discussion during Online Educa Berlin 2013 concerning innovation connecting the fields of open research and open education. Representatives from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the European Commission, and the European Distance and E-Learning Network will join ICORE co-founder Christian M. Stracke to discuss examples of projects, papers, and methods, and more regarding this conceptual connection. The international conference Online Educa Berlin (OEB), with more than 2,000 participating experts from over 100 countries, is the unique opportunity to globally debate the connection between open research and open education.

Open research and open education share philosophies, but exchanges or direct collaboration between actors in the two areas are rare. By bringing the agendas of these fields together, ICORE will explore commonalities and possible points of improvement. The collection of best practices advancing the connection of open research and education in the ICORE Wiki will support international cooperation between individuals and groups active in the fields.

All professionals and researchers working to coordinate interaction and communication between the fields of open research and education are thus welcome to join ICORE free-of-charge and present their work through the ICORE Wiki. Insightful contributions will be shared during the session “How to Bridge Open Research and Open Education to Modernise Learning, Education and Training” (GLL03) from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Online Educa Berlin on Thursday, 5th December 2013.

The ICORE Wiki can be found at http://wiki.icore-online.org.
