For plants to blossom sooner: Deutsche Saatveredelung AG

Bundling of transport orders to forwarders via one single interface / Automation of shipping processes through logistics IT platform AX4

Bright prospects for Germany´s plant-breeder, Deutsche Saatveredelung AG (DSV): The company has clearly reduced shipping efforts with a new IT solution. Instead of handing out individual transport orders to a number of forwarders order data is now transmitted automatically to the various transport providers. The only interface here is the logistics IT platform AX4.

Within only two months DSV and AXIT AG, operator of the IT platform AX4, have established a central, cloud-based solution for the exchange of shipment and tracking data for the plant-breeder. Today, when a seeds shipment is dispatched the order with all shipment-related data is automatically transmitted to the respective forwarder via AX4.

„While in the past we had to manually process each order and pass it to every single forwarder one-on-one today the shipment data from our ERP system is going straight to the service providers´ forwarding programs“, reports Ferdinand Schnitker, operations manager of Deutsche Saatveredelung AG. „This saves us from a lot of administrative efforts and reduces sources of errors in data transmission.“

Also DSV´s forwarders like DHL or Schenker profit from the solution as they can import the shipping data without entering them anew. DSV also prints the necessary barcode labels which the logistics providers require for simplified handling and attaches them to the shipments.

The entire DSV group ships 45,000 tons of seeds annually with the sales focus spreading all over Europe.
