MYZ-UNO First & Biggest Micro-Brewery of AP Mission with Passion of BITS Pilani Alumnus Bharat Kamma

Driven by innovation, the Indian alcoholic beverage industry is witnessing bubbling times. One of the fastest growing, India is the third largest global spirits market by volume in the world, just behind China and Russia. In recent times, the demand for fresh brews, bottled craft or canned craft beer and craft spirits has indeed seen a steep increase. The Indian liquor industry includes the IMFL - Indian Made Foreign Liquor, foreign Liquor Bottled in Origin (BIO), beer and wine segments.

It is known that International Beer Day – IBD is celebrated every year on the first Friday of August and for this year it is on 07 Aug 2020. However, July 03 is no ordinary date since it happens to be the National Independent Beer Run Day as announced by brewers association in USA. However, three years ago on 03 Jul 2017, when the first license was given to MYZ-UNO to establish the first and biggest micro brewery of Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam “Vizag”, everyone not only in India but across the world welcomed the move.

Myz-Uno” – incepted in 2017 the name represents the first (UNO) beer brewed out of Maize (MYZ) for Andhra Pradesh. Myz-Uno the first Micro-Brewery of Andhra Pradesh, located in the heart of Visakhapatnam has been serving the craft beer fresh from tank to tap to glass, cutting out need for kegs, cask or bottling. The six flavoured beers – Lemon, Chocolate, Ginger, Ale, Cider and Mint are truly additive and chemical-free, unfiltered, and unpasteurized and is dispensed from six 300 litre tanks. Belgium beer manufacturing standards are being followed in brewing in this state-of-the-art facility spread across 12,000 sq.ft palatial seating segmented for Families, Youth and Party lovers.

This 250-seat brewery also features a full bar menu (Imported Scotches, Wines and Spirits, Signature Cocktails and Mocktails ) and gastronomical dining with mid century modern interiors featuring reclaimed materials like masonry brick walls decorated with graffiti arts, flooring from old boxcars, and wood snow fencing. The vast dining menu includes the 7 state cuisines of India (270+ dishes) for food lovers, beer boys and drinkers. Myz-Uno also has the largest dance floor in the state which enthrals the customers.

Myz-Uno’s USP lies in creating the balance between the youth and families to celebrate their joyful moments at designated areas. It also has the theme nights – Monday (Navy Nights), Wednesday ( LIP – Ladies In Pink (Unique Concept for ladies night), Friday (Frinitis) – Dance to the music of your choice, Saturday (Clubbing night – Kill the party), and Sunday ( Brunch and Bollywood night for families).

The brain behind Myz-Uno is none other than Proud to be BITSian Bharat Kamma who dis BE (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2002-2006) from institution of excellence in India today Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani. After six years of working at Mahendra Satyam (Tech Mahindra) Hyderabad, John Deere Pune, Automotive Robotics India – ARIPL Chennai, Bharat did his MBA from IE Business School, Madrid, Spain during 2012-2013. After that at Madrid, Bharat was with Next Limit Technologies and Vossoa Optimization Solutions Sl where he was cofounder of Technology Solutions and V-SMART. He got an opportunity to deliver the optimization and process consulting solutions for Anheuser-Busch InBev World's largest brewer (ABinBev). Peaking with curiosity quotient CQ Bharat did lot of research and mastered the “Know-how” of the craft brewing.

Bharat was keen to contribute for the development of the tourism in Andhra Pradesh Coast. To deliver the quick impact, he decided to establish a micro-brewery after performing a lot of research, even though it was a huge risk to invest in a new state. To his shock, there was no policy from the government to establish a microbrewery in the State. He had to knock countless doors and windows of officials, politicians, and bureaucrats to make them understand the importance of microbrewery for tourism and played a stellar role in drafting the policy for same.

Bharat considers Transparency, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, and Innovation as the core values that makes business sustainable. Being an young entrepreneur in the conservative society, the strenuous efforts, meticulous planning, financials, risk assessment and prudent approach in dealing with the P(Political), E(Environmental), S(Social), and T(Technical) authorities made him to create the brand “Myz-Uno” and establish its presence in south India. Bharat wholeheartedly acknowledges Ms Rasagna Dharmana the Managing Director of Myz-Uno his business and life partner for taking the lead in bringing in the whole new concept of micro brewery to city of destiny Vizag.

Myz-Uno is already talk of town in Guntur and upcoming in Hyderabad with Vijayawada on pending list. Proud to be BITSian Bharat Kamma minces no words in acknowledging the broad based integrated and interdisciplinary approach of education at BITS, Pilani which gave her ample opportunities for developing skills such as Team work, Sociability, Resource mobilization acumen, Negotiation, Data Analytics, Problem Solving, Decision Making and Communication apart from Ability for Leadership, Time, Stress and Project Management.

Bharat wants to grow Myz-Uno to reach the target of $30M revenue and create a strong brand value across the globe in next two years. The strategy for the business diversification is already on the cards and sooner Bharat will be venturing into other innovative businesses with B2B impact. Seasonal flavors of beers such as raspberry, pine apple, mango are also on. Corona has held up the deal with Galena Brewing Company USA. With a mischievous smile on his visionary face, Bharat says that Myz-Uno “The Zone of Ecstasy” marks the solo destination spot for all occasions—a quick bite after work, Parties, romantic dates, family celebrations in any City of Destiny!
