Junior League of Plano Rebrands as Junior League of Collin County

Collin County’s growing number of charitable needs coupled with a more diverse base of volunteers sparked the Junior League of Plano to rebrand the 35-year-old organization as the Junior League of Collin County. The rebranding also includes the unveiling of a new logo and a new tagline: Founded in Plano. Dedicated to Collin County.

“Over the past couple of years, we have been evaluating the need for changing our name to be more representative of the community we serve as well as our membership. The League’s 20/20 Task Force, whose focus is to determine how the League will continue to meet the needs of a growing community as well as meet the needs of its membership, was tasked with conducting and analyzing research to determine if a name change should be considered,” explained outgoing League president Melissa Norris.

“Through this research, which included membership forums, surveys, and discussions with other Leagues with similar circumstances, the Task Force realized that in an effort to claim our geography and recognize that more than half of our total membership resides in cities other than Plano, that the timing was right to change our name to the Junior League of Collin County,” Norris added.

The League’s current membership has grown to over 900 stretching from Plano to McKinney and beyond. Moreover, 70-percent of the agencies that the League serves are dispersed throughout Collin County.

“The rebranding is a defining moment in our history and will be a platform for our future,” says incoming president Beccy Alldredge. “Clearly, our overarching objective of improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers remains the same; but our new name and tagline more accurately reflects the nonprofits we serve, our community partners and our ever growing base of volunteers,” Alldredge adds.

Additionally, the Junior League of Collin County will be celebrating its 35 years of service with a special gift to the community on September 19, 2011. More details regarding the gift will be forthcoming.
