2wcom NC06 Network Control Device

Flensburg/Germany, 24.03.2011 – For the monitoring of its FM transmitter technology the Westdeutsche Rundfunk decided in favor of 2wcom’s NC06 Network Control device. By deploying additional 80 units of NC06, the WDR optimizes the quality control of its FM broadcasting network.

“It was our aim to find an appropriate concept to monitor our broadcasting network and to integrate all existing equipment into our SNMP-Network Monitoring Control Center - even equipment reflecting to parallel contacts only and not able to perform the SNMP capability. The NC06 from 2wcom was the right solution to solve this problem”, said Franz Norff, program distribution and networks at WDR.

The NC06 has 32 optical coupler inputs and according to the requirements they can be used as a floating or non-floating version. If the NC06 detects a level change at one of its inputs, the alarm will be forwarded immediately via SNMP trap and e-mail directly to the Monitoring Control Center and/or respectively to the responsible technician in charge. Furthermore one of the integrated 16 relays can be programmed to switch automatically or via SNMP command e.g. to activate a spare FM-TX or to start an additional cooling, power-generator etc.

By deploying the NC06 Network Control device of 2wcom it is possible to intervene directly into the FM station Network Monitoring Control Center. Malfunctions or any problems can be resolved right away in time before the audience notices any loss of quality. In the long run and due to precise analysis of all error messages, vulnerabilities can be eliminated and the system be optimized gradually.

Moreover the NC06 from 2wcom convinced with its user friendly operations and the ability to be controlled completely via web browser/SNMP-manager. All monitoring parameters can be configured individually by the end-user.

“With our NC06 Network Control device we offer our customers the best solution for an effective and comfortable monitoring of all devices within a transmitter network, and we are very pleased that the WDR has chosen 2wcom to supply the equipment”, said Jens-Peter Polleit of the 2wcom sales team.
