RAANDESK Presents "Filmic Flashes" by Jason Bryant

The RAANDESK GALLERY OF ART is presenting the cinematic inspirations of Jason Bryant in the show entitled “Filmic Flashes.” The paintings examine the link between film and perception, and comment upon escapism. Through large scale cropped portraits of celebrity faces and movie stills, famous subjects are depersonalized, spotlighting how all lives hold cinematic moments of their own. The close up and partial images also relate to one’s inability to fully perceive the world. “We only perceive 25% of the things we see,” states Bryant. “(The) cropped images are a metaphor for that.”
New York Arts Magazine proclaimed Bryant’s work“…visually stunning… (His) works allow the viewer to feel the character of the subject, without revealing too much.”

Jason Bryant’s work has been exhibited in over 20 solo, juried, or group shows in the United States and abroad including exhibits at institutions such as The Greenville Museum of Art, The Period Gallery, The Amalie Rothchild Gallery, The James E. Lewis Fine Arts Museum, The Hemicycle Gallery at The Corcoran Museum of Art, The Contemporary Museum, and Gallery 32. His works have been featured in publications such as Direct Art Magazine, New Art International, NY Arts Magazine, and Link Magazine. Bryant received his BFA from East Carolina University and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Mount Royal School of Art. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Currently showing at Punch & Judy is an exhibition of the works of emerging young photographer Laura Salierno. It includes three distinct bodies of work including the debut Salierno's new series, The Plaza, which displays the dingy but evocative remnants of the abandoned hotel rooms of New York's legendary Plaza Hotel; images from her hauntingly biographical series that launched her photography career in New York; and a series of comparison photographs of New Orleans juxtaposing paired images of Mardi Gras scenes with images of the after effects of Katrina.

The RAANDESK GALLERY OF ART (www.raandeskgallery.com) is a virtual art gallery featuring emerging artists from across the country.
