Metrinomics and MackayWilliams have formed Fund Buyer Focus Europe

Metrinomics’ FMF (Fund Market Focus) has joined forces with Feri FMI founders, and UK-based fund analysts, Rodney Williams and Diana Mackay, to create Fund Buyer Focus, a new fund market research company.

All parties are well-known to the European fund industry for their insight and analysis of trends in Europe’s retail fund markets. Mr Williams is the CEO of Fund Buyer Focus and Hans Juergen Schmolke is now the COO responsible for product development, sales and marketing, will jointly manage the company.

Rodney Williams says, “for the first time European asset managers, and particularly the cross-border groups, will be able to gain a full perspective on the success of distribution and sales strategies from a single source.” The new company is based upon Metrinomics’ European fund distribution research which highlights the competitive positioning of suppliers across countries and markets and is used by most of the top asset managers as a benchmarking and strategic tool.

Mr Williams and Ms Mackay, who sold their previous company Feri FMI to Thomson Reuters in 2007, are also well-known in the industry for their Fund Radar reports. In the newly created Fund Buyer Focus, the partners will seek to offer “unique insight into fund market dynamics, from both the supply and the demand side”. In order to achieve this aim, Fund Buyer Focus’s Berlin-based team of specialists will continue to interview 900+ fund buyers in Europe on a continuous basis.

Mr Williams says: “The creation of Fund Buyer Focus opens new windows on industry understanding.” Mr Schmolke adds: “Fund markets are now buyer markets. Adjusting to clients is key for business success under such conditions. FBF can supply the orientation needed for a client oriented business strategy.”
