2010 In The Fancy Dress Industry

Jokers' Masquerade Fancy Dress http://www.joke.co.uk

Jokers' Masquerade Fancy Dress http://www.joke.co.uk

Jokers' Masquerade took a look at the favourite costumes, key trends and impact of the economic climate on demand for fancy dress in 2010 and found unexpected results on all fronts!

You would be forgiven for thinking a business relying on people buying
clothes that are not a necessity and are only going to be used for fun
would struggle in times like these. However, Jokers' Masquerade has
found that there are still plenty of fancy dress seeking shoppers and
party-goers out there and sales remain buoyant. Even with less pocket money to enjoy, people aren’t prepared to let their hair stay up and still like to party!

Jokers’ Masquerade is ensuring it remains ahead of the game by coming up with
new and exciting costumes on a regular basis, absorbing the new VAT
increase rather than passing it on to customers and by constantly
reviewing prices to guarantee the best value. www.joke.co.uk has
been redesigned to ensure customers can find the costume they are
looking for easily, along with all relevant details to make sure the
costume will fit and work for them. A new zoom feature has also been
added to the website so the costumes can be viewed in detail so consumers
can now buy with complete confidence.

Halloween, as always, was the busiest period of the year for Jokers' Masquerade
and a review of top sellers showed that people still flock towards the obvious scary zombie costumes we see each year such as the Grave Groom Zombie Costume (ref: 21463). Film characters such as Chucky (ref: 61378) have been towards the top of the bestselling list for
the past few years too, as have Ghostbusters costumes. The surprise new
entry to the bestselling list in 2010 was the Where’s Wally Costumes
(ref: 63179); this costume is an alternative to the usual scary
costumes and is great if making a big show is not your thing! Couples
costumes are becoming increasingly popular and this year the Jack
Skellington and Sally combination (ref: 50215) reached the top 5 on the bestsellers list, the first time a pair of costumes has ever done so!

2010 saw big supermarket chains getting in on the action with a selection of
lower end Halloween costumes. Luckily for Jokers' Masquerade, the
supermarkets will never be able to compete with its range, particularly
at the higher quality end, so this addition to the market does not
appear to be affecting sales.

Christmas is also an important date in the fancy dress calendar and interestingly
in 2010, for the first time, Santa costumes were beaten from first down
to fourth place as people opted for Christmas pudding costumes, Christmas cracker costumes and reindeer costumes to stand out at the Christmas party! Fancy dress costumes remain a popular choice for Christmas presents for children too and this year saw Spiderman costumes overtaking 2009’s Darth Vader child costumes to the top spot.

Fancy dress is getting more and more popular and the credit crunch hasn’t
managed to put too much of a dampener on people’s fancy dress fun! When conducting a survey of the public, Jokers' Masquerade was pleasantly surprised to find that 90% of people said that worries about the economic climate would NOT stop them buying a fancy dress costume if they wanted one. The subjects were asked if value for money was the most important factor when buying a costume and interestingly, 70% said no, with most of those citing being happy with the costume design and fit as the most important things.

Jokers’ Masquerade consistently upgrades its portfolio in terms of innovative,
high quality, well-tailored costumes, with the added bonus of real
value for money prices, and as a result, looks forward to retaining its
spot at the forefront of the fancy dress industry for many years to
come!
