The Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance in Berlin, Germany offers a rare chance to spend time with Gunter Pauli, one of the most innovative thinkers of our times, to discover the business potential of the Blue Economy.

The Blue Economy focuses on the "Zero Emissions" principle and is inspired by the economic efficiency of nature: No waste is generated, but all input of a production process is used to generate an output to be sold. This systemic approach does not only serve the environment, but makes it possible to generate more cash flow with less investment. For industry, Blue Economy means greater competitiveness and represents a continuation of its inevitable drive towards efficiency. It generates jobs even as it raises productivity. Moreover, it provides the means to feed, clothe and house today's populations without destroying the ability of future generations to do the same.

Gunter Pauli is entrepreneur and author of the new report to the Club of Rome: "The Blue Economy: 10 Years, 100 Innovations, 100 Million Jobs". His work is a collection of innovations which provide practical and competitive solutions for a sustainable economy. The former president of Ecover biodegradable soap company built Europe’s first recyclable factory. Founder of Zero Emissions Research Initiatives (ZERI) at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Gunter Pauli pioneered the concept of waste being seen as a resource that with creative thinking, can be used to create multiple enterprises from singular ones, with benefits for the economy and the environment, thus redesigning production and consumption into clusters of industries inspired by natural systems.

This training is addressed at consultants, entrepreneurs, managers and executives who wish do discover new business opportunities for their companies. There will be two attendance phases in Berlin, Germany from January 23 to 25, 2011 and May 08 to 10, 2011. A project implementation phase is carried out between attendance phases in close exchange with fellow course participants and guidance from HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA School.
