Sinbad and the Minotaur Scheduled to Premiere on Syfy in 2011

American World Pictures (AWP), a Los Angeles based independent motion picture distribution and production company, has once again teamed up with Syfy, one of the most prolific producers of television movies, to produce a new tale in the legendary voyages of Sinbad, Sinbad and the Minotaur, starring Manu Bennett (Spartacus: Blood and Sand).

The movie is scheduled to premiere on Syfy in 2011.

In this re-imagining of Greek and Arabic folk tales, the legendary voyager and his hearty crew of sailors and adventurers seek a long lost treasure. Sinbad, armed with rumors of ancient gold, finds himself sneaking into the desert camp of the evil sorcerer Al-Jibar. Hidden among the many relics is an ivory scroll case containing the logs of the pirate Captain Minos, which will lead Sinbad to the golden head of the Colossus of Rhodes. Also in Al-Jibar’s tent, Sinbad finds the captured princess Tara, taken and forced into Al-Jibar’s harem. Now Sinbad must decipher the map, rescue a princess and defeat the fearsome Minotaur guarding the Colossus, with the angry sorcerer hot on his trail, in the quest of Sinbad and the Minotaur.

Previously, American World Pictures produced Pterodactyl and Yeti for Syfy.

American World Pictures will be screening Sinbad and the Minotaur at AFM on November 3, 2010. Producer of Sinbad and the Minotaur and Founder of AWP Dana Dubovsky: “We are excited to bring Sinbad to Syfy and anticipate a positive response to the film at this year’s markets.”

The popular Syfy Saturday Original Movies have averaged nearly two million total viewers in 2010, led by Lake Placid 3 (3.0 million total viewers) and Sharktopus (2.5 million total viewers).
